Frequently asked questions

How does the B-roll planner work?
Paste your script into the text box and choose how scenes should be split. The planner creates one row per scene with a suggested visual type, starter production notes, and an editable notes field. Export the list as CSV or Markdown when you are ready to share it.
Is this B-roll planner free?
Yes. The B-roll planner is free to use with no account, card, watermark, or software install required.
Does my script get uploaded?
No. Shot list planning runs locally in your browser. Your script text is not sent to Vidsembly or any third-party server.
How should I split scenes in my script?
Use blank lines between scenes, lines that start with Scene or Slide labels, or divider lines made from dashes or equals signs. Pick the split mode that matches how your draft is formatted.
What visual types can I assign to each scene?
Each scene can be tagged as talking head A-roll, screen recording, product demo, B-roll coverage, text or graphic, or stock placeholder. You can change the suggestion before exporting.
Can I share the shot list with an editor or producer?
Yes. Download a CSV for spreadsheets and production trackers, or download or copy Markdown for docs, Notion, or handoff notes. Add a project title before exporting if you manage multiple videos.

About this tool

Plan visuals before you shoot or record

A clear script does not always include a clear visual plan. The B-roll planner turns narration into a scene-by-scene shot list so you can decide what to show on camera, what to capture as screen recording, and where supporting footage belongs before you start production.

Match visuals to each line of narration

Each scene includes a script excerpt plus a suggested visual type based on common keywords and pacing. Use talking head for direct intros, screen recording for software demos, product demo for feature highlights, and B-roll for illustrative coverage. Override any suggestion to match your brand or classroom style.

Add production notes your team can act on

Starter notes describe what to capture for each scene, such as which UI step to record or which statistic belongs on a title card. Edit the notes field to include locations, props, talent cues, or links to reference clips. Empty notes fall back to the suggestion when you export.

Export for editors, producers, and collaborators

CSV exports work well for spreadsheets, shot trackers, and agency handoffs. Markdown exports work well for shared docs and async review. Copy Markdown to paste into your production wiki without downloading a file.

Private browser-based pre-production

Scripts can include unreleased products, client messaging, lesson plans, or internal training details. This B-roll planner processes text in your browser, so you can build a shot list without uploading a draft to another service.
