Frequently asked questions

How do I generate favicons from a logo?
Upload a PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF, or SVG image, choose the files you need, then click Generate favicons. Download each file individually or use Download All for a ZIP that includes an HTML snippet you can paste into your site head.
Is this favicon generator free?
Yes. This tool is completely free with no account required. There are no usage limits on how many favicon packs you can generate.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing and ICO creation run locally in your browser. Your logo never leaves your device.
What favicon files does this tool export?
The default pack includes favicon.ico (16, 32, and 48px), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180px), android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png, site.webmanifest, and an HTML snippet. SVG uploads also include favicon.svg.
Where should I put the generated files?
Place the files in your website root (the same folder as your homepage), then paste the HTML snippet into the head of your HTML or layout file. Update the site name in site.webmanifest if you use it for a PWA.
What happens if my image is not square?
The tool center-crops your image to a square using the shortest side, then resizes that square to each favicon size. For best results, upload artwork that is already square or has the logo centered.

About this tool

Why websites need more than one favicon

Browser tabs, bookmarks, iOS home screens, and Android install prompts each expect a different file. A classic favicon.ico covers older browsers, PNG sizes cover sharp tabs, apple-touch-icon covers iPhones, and 192px plus 512px icons cover PWA manifests.

How to add favicons to a site

Upload the generated files to your site root, then paste the HTML snippet into the document head. Keep the filenames unchanged so the snippet matches. If you use a PWA, edit site.webmanifest with your app name, theme color, and start URL.

Tips for a clean favicon

Start with a high-resolution square logo. Simple shapes read better at 16px than detailed illustrations. Keep important artwork centered so the automatic square crop does not cut off the mark.

Is browser-based favicon generation private?

Yes. This generator processes files entirely in your browser, so unreleased logos and client marks are not sent to Vidsembly or a third-party server.
